There is a significant difference in shooting a wedding and shooting an engagement or pre wedding session. One is about capturing the moments and narrating a story in real time, and the other creating a story, sometimes out of thin air. I really take my hats off photographers and brides who can go through a full-day pre wedding photography session, in the context of our local weather. We brave the sometimes sudden and unexpected thunderstorms and if we don't wilt in the heat, we drown in the humidity.
However, do you know that you don't really need 6-8 hours to create some awesome images? If you don't need to to shoot in a few locations, or have time constraint, or simply want something short and sweet (or stunning), one hour will do just fine. I always liken it to a deeply satisfying meal---one which I eat just enough to be pampered and stimulated but left begging for more.
